Gibson Hall
It’s not in our neighborhood
but we will be there.
Pat’s helping lead a retreat
at Scarritt Bennett
conference and retreat center
in the heart of Nashville, Tennessee
January 23-26, 2012.
Prayer: Holy Conversations with God
will be a time to explore questions about
and various experiences of prayer
as well as many forms of prayer.
There will be time for worship,
individual reflection, labyrinth walking,
meditative reading and music.
The Scarritt Bennett campus is beautiful.
Even though it’s located in the heart of Nashville,
it is a quiet place.
The Gothic buildings seem to exude
reverence.
Perhaps because this is a place
dedicated and historically involved
in eradicating racism
(Martin Luther King preached in the chapel),
working for justice and reconciliation—
all from a global perspective.
Too, it is committed to education
and spiritual growth.
I am glad to get to spend these days
in such a hallowed place
and to share time with others
exploring our prayer life.
If you’re in the neighborhood,
or want to go to the neighborhood,
