We gathered,
helped Tom raise the tipi,
learned about electricity from Bruce,
Cherokee basket weaving from Renee.
Dave helped us listen
to the heartbeat of the Earth,
our own,
and beat the rhythms
together.
We wandered off onto
the prairie labyrinth,
toured the high tunnel,
fed fresh grass to the animals.
Then we danced to the sweet music
of the Mud Dobbers.
Elizabeth led us in the recitation
of the United Nations Earth Charter
and then we danced
the International Elm Dance
for the healing of all on the planet.
We cooked
out
and jammed.
It was a relaxing day
gathered in community
to appreciate
and celebrate
the sky,
the grassland,
the air,
water,
all those who live in this
neighborhood
and all around
this wondrous planet.
We spent the whole day
to remember to stop
and notice,
be aware,
appreciate,
take care,
every day.
