Summer food harvest has begun…
Besides the greens, broccoli, carrots and beets
we ate all winter,
and the herbs we ate earlier in the spring,
we are now eating potatoes,
a striped squash (which we ate before I could snap its photo.)

Yellow squash, green bell peppers, a more bulbous eggplant,
herbs and tomatoes are coming on.

The high tunnel garden has produced food all year—
which is a good and wonderful development.
But we must remember
to pause,
savor,
celebrate
the first fruits
of the new season.
